JAMIN O. ELLIOTT
Football (1997-2001)
Men’s Track & Field (1997-2002)
One of the greatest two-sport athletes in Delaware history, Jamin was a two-time all-conference wide receiver in football and a champion triple jumper in track & field.
A native of Portsmouth, Va., Jamin started three seasons for Hall of Fame head coach Tubby Raymond, twice earned All-Atlantic 10 honors, and finished his career with 158 receptions for 3,068 yards, a 19.4-yard average, 23 touchdowns, and 11 100-yard receiving games, including a career-best 220 yards vs. Villanova in 2000.
He finished his career ranked No. 3 all-time at UD in receptions, yards, and touchdowns and enjoyed his finest season in 2000 when he hauled in 58 catches for 1,337 yards (No. 2 at UD), a 23.1 yard average, and eight touchdowns, and led the Blue Hens to a 12-2 record, the Atlantic 10 title, and a berth in the NCAA I-AA semifinals.
He caught 47 passes for 850 yards and four touchdowns in 1999 and caught 30 passes for 514 yards and three touchdowns in 2001 when he was named the UD Outstanding Senior Male Athlete of the Year.
As a track & field standout for UD Hall of Fame coach Jim Fischer, Jamin led UD to the America East conference indoor team title in 1999 and the outdoor title in 2000. Individually, he won the America East outdoor triple jump title in 2000, was America East runner-up in that event three times indoors, and twice earned All-East honors. He also set the UD indoor triple jump record (48-feet, 11-inches).
Jamin earned his degree from Delaware in 2002 and went on to a career in professional football. He was selected in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Chicago Bears in 2002 and later earned a Super Bowl ring with the New England Patriots in 2003. He also played with the NFL Atlanta Falcons, the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe, and with the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League.
