Audrey Kelley joined the Blue Hen rowing team in August 2018 as their new assistant coach after serving two years in the same role with Middlebury College’s (Vt.) men’s and women’s rowing teams.
Her role at Middlebury consisted of program management, racing, travel logistics, and lead on-campus recruiter of walk-on athletes.
She has also received several accreditations during her time coaching including a USRowing Level 2 coaching certificate, a Connecticut Safe Boating certificate, and was an honored member of the Coach-Con Class of 2018, an exclusive group of the country's top collegiate assistant coaches.
“I am very excited to be joining the Blue Hen rowing coaching staff,” Kelley said. “I’d like to thank Kevin Gruber and all involved in the hiring process for dedicating the time and resources to add me as Delaware Rowing’s full time assistant coach. With the extra man power, I’m looking forward to contributing to a positive team culture and competitive recruiting process for several seasons to come. With only one point separating second and third in the team points trophy at CAA in 2018, and showing speed at every level, I know we have the potential to bring Delaware to the next level.”
Kelley has proved her coaching tactics are successful in the past as Middlebury College has had 4+ silver medalists at the Dad Vail Women’s Novice during her time there, the largest collegiate regatta in the United States which brings in over 100 colleges and universities from the U.S. and Canada.
“We’re very excited to welcome Audrey to the Blue Hen family,” Coach Gruber said. “She’s confident, curious and energetic. Her experiences as both an athlete and coach will add a fresh perspective to the staff; we’re stronger with her aboard.”
As a student-athlete, Kelley was a four-year varsity eight rower at the University of Connecticut from 2012-2016, where she served as captain her senior year.
