Charlotte Imer joins the cross country and track & field programs serving as an assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 season. Imer will be responsible for the oversight of the middle and long-distance event groups.
In her first season with the Blue Hens, Imer helped the women's middle distance and long distance runners set nine new entries in the program's top 10 all-time. The Blue Hens Distance Medley Relay team placed second in the indoor CAA Championships, and Kadance Dumas finished third in the 800-meters at the outdoor CAA Championships
Imer makes her way down I-95 to Newark after spending three seasons as an assistant coach for Temple’s women's cross country and track & field programs (2022-24). During Imer’s tenure in North Philadelphia, the Owls have excelled in women’s cross country and distance events in track and field. Laura Nicholson (2022) and Elsa Chan (2023) earned All-Conference honors at the AAC Cross Country Championships. Nicholson also secured a bronze in the mile at the 2023 AAC Indoor Championships, and at the 2023 AAC Outdoor Championships, she won gold in the 1,500 meters and silver in the 800 meters. Her impressive performance earned her a spot at the 2023 NCAA East Regional, where she advanced to the quarterfinals in the 1,500 meters. Nicholson became the first Temple athlete since 2021 to advance beyond the preliminaries and the first since Blanca Fernandez in 2015 to reach the quarterfinals in the 1,500 meters.
Prior to Temple, Imer served as an assistant cross country/track and field coach at Catholic University. Prior to that, she spent two years as a volunteer assistant coach at Tennessee Tech while earning her master's degree in sport management. She also served as a graduate assistant cross country coach at Tennessee-Martin for one year.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Imer graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in political science. At EKU, she earned All-American honors in cross country in 2016, finishing 31st at the NCAA Championships — the highest finish ever by an EKU woman at nationals. In 2017, Imer led the EKU women to their first NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, where they finished 23rd.
Imer also achieved All-American status in track & field, earning second-team honors in the 5,000 meters in 2017 with a personal-best time of 15:59.3 at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championship. She was named the OVC Track Athlete of the Year and EKU Female Athlete of the Year twice. Imer won the OVC indoor 3,000-meter championship in 2016 and 2017 and claimed the OVC title in the indoor 5,000 meters in 2017. Throughout her career, the Colonels won three consecutive OVC women's outdoor championships.
