University of Delaware first-year women's tennis head coach Kelly Anderson announced August 24, 2018 the addition of Matt Williams as an assistant coach.

Williams joins the Hens after serving the past four seasons in various roles for the women's tennis team at the University of Georgia. He also spent a year as an assistant coach at Southern Wesleyan University.

"The opportunity to coach a team as competitive as Delaware, in as tough a conference as the CAA, only comes around every so often and I look forward to the challenge," stated Williams. "I want to thank Kelly, Bob [Lopez, sport administrator] and Chrissi [Rawak, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Services] for believing in me and granting me the chance to join the Blue Hens."

During his tenure at UGA, the Bulldogs compiled an overall record of 83-25 and consistently ranked in the Top 10 of the ITA national poll, including a high of No. 2 in each season while garnering four straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Williams graduated from Mercer University in 2012 with a B.S. in Chemistry before earning a M.S. in Sport Pedagogy from Georgia in 2016.

"I am excited to welcome Matt to the University of Delaware and our Blue Hen family," Anderson remarked. "Matt is one of the most loyal and hardworking people in college tennis and brings with him a wealth of knowledge from a Top 10 program. He understands the importance of the student-athlete experience and together, I am confident we will create one of excellence."
