Blue Hen Men's Golfers Tied For 10th Place Following First Day of ODU Outer Banks Invitational

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- Blue Hen senior co-captains Greg Matthias and Stephen Scialo each carded a one over par 73 on Sunday to tie for 27th place and lead the University of Delaware men's golf team following the first day of the ODU Outer Banks Invitational.
The Blue Hens posted a 295 team score and are tied for 10th place out of 18 teams following the first round of the three-day tournament. Georgia recorded a 271 to lead the field while Liberty is second at 281, Maryland sits in third place at 288, and Old Dominion is fourth at 289.
Matthias (at right) and Scialo each shot a one over par 73 during their opening rounds on the par 72, 6,535-yard Kilmaric Golf Course. Junior Ben Conroy fired a two over par 74 and is tied for 34th place following Sunday's action, while sophomore Dan Costenbader carded a three over 75 and is tied for 42nd place. Sophomore Corey Wagner, who recorded an 11 over par 83, is tied for 85th place after the first round.
T.J. Mitchell carded an eight under par 64 to lead the individual standings. The tournament continues with Monday's second round before concluding on Tuesday.
