Seniors Matthias, Scialo Help Delaware Men's Golfers To Seventh Place Finish Following First Day of Joe Agee Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Blue Hen senior co-captains Greg Matthias and Stephen Scialo are each nine over par through two rounds while the University of Delaware men's golf team is seventh in the team standings Monday following the first day of the Joe Agee Invitational hosted by William & Mary.
Scialo opened his day with a five over par 77 on the par 72, 6,889-yard Colonial Heights Golf Course before closing with a four over par 76, and is tied for 26th in the individual standings with a nine over par 77-76-153.
Matthias (at right) carded a seven over par 79 during his opening round but rebounded with a two over 74, the best round of the day by a Blue Hen, to also finish Monday at nine over par at 79-74-153.
Freshman Fraser Graham also bettered his opening round by five strokes, opening with an eight over par 80 before rebounding with a three over 75, and is tied for 33rd place with an 11 over par score of 80-75-155.
Junior Ben Conroy carded a seven over par 79 during his first round and followed with a five over 77 during his second, and ended the day in 40th place at 79-77-156, 12 over par.
Sophomore Corey Wagner shot a nine over 81 but followed with a five over 77 during his second round of the day, and enters Tuesday's action tied for 42nd place with a 14 over par 81-77-158.
Austin Gray of Longwood leads the field with a two under par 71-71-142, while Jeremy Wells of William & Mary and Blake Carter of Longwood are each three shots back.
Longwood leads the 13-squad team standings with a 578 two-round score, and holds a commanding 20-shot lead over second place High Point which posted a 598. Towson is third at 599, while Old Dominion is fourth at 600 and William & Mary rounds out the top five at 608. Gardner-Webb is sixth at 611 while the Blue Hens, who recorded a 315 in the first round before bouncing back with a 302 in the second, sit in seventh place at 617.
The third and final round of the Joe Agee Invitational will be held Tuesday, with action beginning at 8 a.m.
