Stephen Scialo Leads University of Delaware Men's Golfers To Third Place Finish at Cornell Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. -- University of Delaware senior Stephen Scialo fired a one over par 73 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 10th place in the individual standings while the Blue Hens placed third in the team standings this weekend at the Cornell Invitational.
Scialo (at right) carded his 73 on Sunday on the par 72, 6,890-yard Robert Trent Jones Golf Course and finished the weekend with a two over par score of 70-75-73-218. Scialo has been Delaware's top finisher in two of the first three tournaments this fall, and leads the Blue Hens with a 73.63 round average so far this season.
Sophomore Corey Wagner fired a three over par 75 during his final round, and finished in a tie for 15th place with a five over par 71-75-75-221. Junior Ben Conroy shot a two over par 74 on Sunday, finishing in a tie for 19th place at 74-75-74-223, seven over par.
Senior Greg Mattias also carded a two over 74 during Sunday's round and finished in a tie for 36th place with a 13 over par score of 73-82-74-229. Freshman Fraser Graham, who carded a seven over par 79 on Sunday, tied for 44th place after finishing at 15 over par 73-79-79-231 for the tournament.
Carter Rufe of Lafayette earned medalist honors by finishing with a six under par 70-69-71-210, winning the tournament by a commanding six strokes.
Binghamton took the team title by winning the 14-squad event with a three-round total of 871. Columbia was second at 874 while the Blue Hens, coming off their Navy Fall Classic team victory two weeks ago, posted a 296 on Sunday and finished third with an 887 score for the weekend. Saint Bonaventure came in fourth with an 893, while Colgate rounded out the top five at 900.
The Blue Hens are back in action on October 3-4 when they compete in the Joe Agee/William & Mary Invitational at the Colonial Heights Golf Course in Williamsburg, Va.
