UD Men's Soccer Travels to James Madison to Battle the Dukes (Oct. 13, 2012)

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team will travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to tackle the James Madison University Dukes in a Colonial Athletic Association match on Sunday, October 14 at 2 p.m. at JMU's University Park.
Delaware (3-8-2, 1-2-1 CAA) enters the match in eighth place in the CAA while James Madison (5-5-2, 3-1-1 CAA) sits tied for second in the conference with Northeastern.
“We are in the heart of the most important CAA segment of your schedule and these three games on the road will define us for this season,” Delaware head coach Ian Hennessy expressed. “To be honest I have been very pleased overall with our performance against ODU and Northeastern.'
The Blue Hens look to rebound from their 2-0 defeat at Northeastern on Wednesday. Freshman forward Joe Dipre's three goals and seven points leads the Blue Hens while junior forward Roberto Gimenez is the only Blue Hen with multiple goals (2) and assists (2) on the season.
“JMU has already defeated the nation's number one team in the country in North Carolina and will give us a tough test,” Hennessy said of his next opponent.
The Dukes enter Sunday's match after defeating UNCW 2-1 in double overtime on Wednesday. Led by 26-year head coach Tom Martin, the Dukes have 16 letter winners and seven starters return from a club that went 13-5-2 last season that ended in a loss t the round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Paul Wyatt leads the Dukes with five goals and 11 points on the season while Josh Grant ranks second on the club with nine points and four goals. JMU has been a tough team at home as the Dukes own a 4-1-1 record at University Park this season.
“We need goals if we are to give ourselves a chance and its goals that we have found hard to find this season,” Hennessy said. “Suday is another opportunity to get things in the right department for us.”
Delaware will continue its longest road stretch of its CAA schedule with a road match against Drexel University on Wednesday, October 17 at 7 p.m. at Drexel's Vidas Field. The Blue Hens will return home on Sunday, October 21 at 1 p.m. when UD plays Hofstra University at Delaware Mini Stadium.
