Shattuck Tied For Seventh Place, Delaware Eighth After Second Day of ODU Outer Banks Intercollegiate

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- University of Delaware freshman Braden Shattuck is tied for seventh place in the individual standings while the Blue Hen men's golf squad is eighth in the team standings on Monday following the second day of the Old Dominion Outer Banks Intercollegiate.
After posting a 303 team score during Sunday's opening round, Delaware improved to record a 298 score on Monday and finish the day in eighth place out of 18 squads with a two-day total of 601. Georgia Southern continues to lead the tournament with a 577 score, while Radford is second at 582 and host Old Dominion sits in third place at 583.
Shattuck (at right) fired a one under par 71 on Monday on the par 72, 6,560-yard course at Kilmarlic Golf Club, and is tied for seventh place in the individual standings with a two-round score of 72-71-143, one under par. He was one over par through three holes on Monday, but birdied four, six and nine to move to two under through the front nine. Five pars and a birdie on 12 put him at three under for the day, before two consecutive bogeys and a par on 18 ended his round at one under par.
Blue Hen senior Ben Conroy carded a three over par 75 during his second round, putting him in a tie for 20th place with a four over par score of 73-75-148. Conroy had seven pars and a pair of bogeys on his front nine, and was four over through 13. However he bounced back to close his round with four pars and a birdie on 15, ending the day at three over par.
Junior Dan Costenbader also recorded a three over par 75 during his Monday round, and has posted a two-round score of 78-75-153 to tie for 45th place at nine over par. Costenbader had seven pars and two bogeys through his front nine, while a double bogey on 11 dropped him to five over par. But Costenbader rallied with a birdie on 12, and following four pars and a bogey on 14, birdied the 18th hole to finish the day at three over.
UD freshman Kyle Martin also improved three strokes from his first round, firing a five over par 77 on Monday to finish the day at 13 over par 80-77-157 and tie for 61st place. Martin was 10 over par through 11 holes on Monday but had a tremendous finish, recording five birdies and two pars the rest of the way to conclude the day at five over.
Sophomore Niño Rosal shot an 11 over par 83 during his second round, and is tied for 83rd place with a 20 over par score of 81-83-164. Rosal birdied the second and eighth holes during a three over par front nine, but was eight over during his back nine.
Weston Eklund of Radford and Scott Wolfes of Georgia Southern are tied for the individual lead at seven under par, while Jake McNulty of VCU is two shots back.
The third and final round of the ODU Outer Banks Intercollegiate will take place on Tuesday.
