Delaware Men's Golf Team Opens 2012 Spring Schedule This Weekend at George Washington Invitational

BETHANY BEACH, Del. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team opens its 2012 spring schedule this weekend when the Blue Hens will participate in the 14th Annual George Washington University Intercollegiate Invitational at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club.
The first round begins Friday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., with the second and final round also starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in a shotgun format. The 11-team field includes Binghamton, Boston College, Delaware, George Washington, Hofstra, Holy Cross, La Salle, Niagara, Penn, Rider, and St. Francis (N.Y.).
Led by 11th-year head coach Mike Keogh, the Blue Hens are coming off a fall season in which they posted three top 10 finishes and claimed the Navy Fall Classic team title on Sept. 10-11.
Delaware is led by senior Stephen Scialo and junior Ben Conroy (at right), who each averaged a team-best 74.88 strokes per round during the fall. Sophomore Corey Wagner was third on the team with a 76.38 stroke average, while senior Greg Matthias was fourth with a 77.88 average.
Following the George Washington Invitational, Delaware will next be in action on Mar. 25-27 at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Golf Course in Williamsburg, Va. The Blue Hens will then participate in the Villanova Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa. on Apr. 2-3, before taking part in the Penn State Rutherford Intercollegiate in University Park, Pa. on Apr. 7-8.
The Blue will play in the Longwood Intercollegiate at The Manor Resort in Farmville, Va. on Apr. 13-14, before serving as host of the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at Wilmington Country Club on Apr. 27-29.
