RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman Niño Rosal was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday following his outstanding performance at the Manor Intercollegiate over the weekend.
Rosal tied for third place in the individual standings at the tournament on Friday and Saturday, carding a one over par 72-69-76-217 on the par 72, 7,246-yard course at The Manor Golf Resort. Rosal's second round of 69 was the lowest of his career, and was the third lowest by a Blue Hen during the season.
Rosal helped lead the Blue Hens to a second place team finish at the invitational, the fourth time in five spring tournaments that Delaware has finished among the top three.
Rosal currently ranks third on the team with a 76.14 average round, and has now posted two top-10 finishes this year. The award was the first of the career for Rosal, who shared CAA Men's Golfer of the Week honors with Brandon Shin of Hofstra.
Rosal and the Blue Hens will host the CAA Championships on April 27-29 at the Wilmington Country Club in Wilmington, Del.
