Blue Hen Men's Golfers in Second Place, Ben Conroy Fourth Following First Day of Villanova Wildcat Invitational

MALVERN, Pa. -- Blue Hen junior Ben Conroy is tied for fourth place in the individual standings while the University of Delaware men's golf team sits in second place out of 14 teams on Monday following the first day of the Villanova Wildcat Invitational.
The Blue Hens fired a 303 team score during the first round of the day before carding a 300 during the second round, and sit just one shot behind leader Ohio State which posted a 602 through two rounds.
Conroy opened his day with a two over par 73 on the par 71, 7,005-yard course at White Manor Country Club and followed with a five over par 77 to finish the day tied for fourth place with a seven over par score of 73-76-149.
Senior Greg Matthias carded a five over par 76 during his first round and then shot a four over par 75 during the second, ending the day tied for seventh place at 76-75-151, nine over par. Classmate Stephen Scialo was the third Blue Hen to finish the day among the top 10 on the leaderboard, carding a 10 over par score of 77-75-152 to enter Tuesday's final round tied for 10th place.
Sophomore Corey Wagner rebounded from his opening round 80 to record a three over par 74 during his second round, finishing the day in a tie for 19th place with a 12 over par 80-74-154.
The Blue Hens also had sophomore Dan Costenbader, senior Bobby Arthur and freshman Niño Rosal playing as individuals at the tournament. Costenbader is tied for 54th place after carding a 20 over par 82-80-162 for the day, while Arthur is tied for 68th place with a 26 over par 87-81-168. Rosal fired a 29 over par 86-85-171 during Monday's action and is tied for 72nd place.
Freshman Fraser Graham carded a six over par 77 during his opening round before withdrawing from the invitational.
Ohio State's Matthew Turner leads the field with a two under par 72-68-140, while Steve Skurla of Villanova is four strokes back after carding a two over par 77-67-144.
