University of Delaware Senior Greg Matthias Named To All-CAA Men's Golf Second Team

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior Greg Matthias was named to the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Second Team, it was announced by the league on Friday.
Matthias (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) was one of three Blue Hens to appear in all 12 tournaments for the Blue Hens during the 2011-12 season, ranking fifth on the team with a 76.62 average round. He posted two top 10 finishes on the season, including placing sixth at the George Washington Invitational on March 16-17 in Bethany Beach, Del.
Matthias then won his first career individual title by earning medalist honors at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on April 27-29 at the Wilmington Country Club. Matthias finished with a four over par score of 72-68-77-217 on the par 71, 7,043-yard South Course to record a one-shot victory. Matthias will become the 11th Blue Hen in school history to participate in the NCAA Tournament, as he will compete in the Ann Arbor Regional this Thursday through Saturday.
Delaware has now been represented on the All-CAA Men's Golf Team for the third consecutive year, as Justin Martinson was a second team selection in 2010 and a first team pick a year ago.
Thomas Bass of UNCW was named the CAA Men's Golfer of the Year, while Davin White of Georgia State was selected the Rookie of the Year and Matt Clark of UNCW earned Coach of the Year honors.
