Blue Hen Senior Greg Matthias To Begin Play At NCAA Men's Golf Ann Arbor Regional On Thursday

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Delaware senior Greg Matthias will participate in the NCAA Men's Golf Ann Arbor Regional this Thursday through Saturday at the par 71, 6,723-yard University of Michigan Golf Course.
USC earned the top seed at the Ann Arbor Regional, followed by Oregon, Kent State, Virginia, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kennesaw State, TCU, Purdue, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Navy. Matthias is one of 10 individuals who will also be competing at the regional along with Peter Williamson of Dartmouth, Matt Thompson of Michigan, Sebastian MacLean of Xavier, Eric Van Rooyen of Minnesota, Dan Ellis of Michigan State, Tyler Merkel of Ball State, Charlie Bull of Akron, Chad Ebert of Green Bay, and William Park of Army.
Matthias will tee off on the first hole at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, and will be paired with August Jonas of Navy and Dan Ellis of Michigan State. Friday's second round will begin at 8 a.m. while Saturday's final round starts at 7:30 a.m.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each of the six regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships, will be held on May 29-June 3 at The Riviera Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. USC will serve as the host institution for this year's championships.
Matthias becomes the 11th Blue Hen in school history to participate in the NCAA Tournament and the second in three years, as Justin Martinson competed in the 2010 Georgia Tech Regional.
Matthias received an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals after winning the individual title at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on April 27-29 at the Wilmington Country Club. Matthias finished with a four over par score of 72-68-77-217 on the par 71, 7,043-yard South Course to record a one-shot victory. The tournament marked the first time in Matthias' four-year career that he earned medalist honors, and was his second top 10 finish of the season.
