Three University of Delaware Women Rowers Earn CRCA National Scholar-Athlete Awards

NEWARK, Del. -- Three members of the 2012 University of Delaware women's rowing squad have been honored for their academic success by being named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
Earning the award for the Blue Hens were junior Julia Cagney, senior Kristen Endres (at right), and senior Dianna Levin.
To earn the award, student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by their institutions, carry a minimum 3.5 grade point average, be in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, and rowed in their institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boats for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races or raced in a regional conference event.
Cagney, a math and computer science major from Hewitt, N.J. (West Milford High School), carries a 3.5 grade point average. She has earned three letters at Delaware and has competed in 20 events during her career. She led the Varsity Eights crew to a sixth place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association championships this past spring and was second at the CAA meet in the Varsity Fours in 2010 and second in the Second Varsity Eights in 2011.
Endres, a pre-veterinary and animal biosciences major from Newark, Del. (St. Mark's High School), graduated with a 3.6 grade point average last month. A CoSIDA Academic All-American nominee, she earned four letters during her career. She placed third at the CAA championships in the Second Varsity Eights in 2011, was fifth in the Varsity Eights in 2010, and fifth in the Second Varsity Eights in 2012.
Levin, a marketing major from Wayne, Pa. (Lower Merion High School), carries a 3.5 grade point average. The coxswain is a three-year letterwinner who has appeared in 18 races during her career. She placed fifth in the Varsity Fours at the CAA championships in 2011 and finished fifth in the Second Varsity Eights race at CAA's this past April.
A total of 25 Colonial Athletic Association rowers were named to the team, including 13 from league champion Northeastern, six from Buffalo, two from George Mason, and one from Boston University.
