BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- University of Delaware men's golf incoming freshman Braden Shattuck captured the Philadelphia Junior Tour Championship on Monday at Saucon Valley Country Club.
Shattuck (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) carded a three under par 35-34-69 on the par 72, 6,528-yard course to post a one-shot victory over Jalen Griffin. Shattuck (at right) parred the first eight holes of the day, before a birdie on nine put him at one under through the front nine. A bogey on 13 moved him back to even par but birdies on 14, 16 and 18 ended his round at three under.
Fellow UD freshman Kyle Martin (Ambler, Pa./Christopher Dock) also had a strong showing at the tournament, carding an even par 37-35-72 to finish in a tie for third place. Martin was two over par through eight holes, but birdied the ninth to move to one over through the front nine. He then added eight consecutive pars, before a birdie on 18 ended his round at even par.
