Delaware Senior Ben Conroy, Blue Hen Men's Golfers Second Following First Day of George Mason Patriot Intercollegiate

LORTON, Va. -- Blue Hen senior Ben Conroy sits in second place in the individual standings while the University of Delaware men's golf team is also second in the team standings on Saturday following the first day of the CHAMPS/Patriot Intercollegiate hosted by George Mason University.
The Blue Hens opened with a 294 team score during the opening round before an impressive 282 during the second round to end the day with a two-round score of 576. Missouri leads the 13-squad field at 566, while Delaware is second 10 strokes behind. Hofstra sits in third place at 582, while Penn and Villanova are tied for fourth place at 588.
Conroy (at right) opened his day with a two over par 73 on the par 71, 6,857-yard Laurel Hills Golf Course before firing a three under par 68 later in the day, ending Saturday's action with a one under par 73-68-141.
Emilio Cuartero of Missouri leads the field after carding a four under par 71-67-138, while Conroy sits in second place three shots back. Jace Long of Missouri and Jonathan Ferber of Hofstra are each tied for third place at even par 142.
UD freshman Braden Shattuck finished the day at two over par with a 74-70-144 to finish in a tie for ninth place, while fellow rookie Kyle Martin is tied for 19th place after carding a four over par 77-69-146.
Sophomore Niño Rosal sits in 21st place following his five over par day of 72-75-147 while junior Corey Wagner, playing as an individual, carded an 18 over par 82-78-160 to finish the day tied for 67th place.
Sophomore Fraser Graham ended Saturday's play in 74th place following his 21 over par 75-88-163.
The third and final round of the CHAMPS/Patriot Intercollegiate is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
