Delaware Men's Golf Team Finishes in 11th Place at Season-Opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate

VERONA, N.Y. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team improved two spots on Monday to finish in 11th place as the Blue Hens opened their 2012 fall season this weekend at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.
Tournament host Missouri easily won the team title at the 13-squad invitational with a three-round score of 842, while Louisville placed second at 861. Memphis came in third at 866, while Central Connecticut was fourth at 890 and IPFW rounded out the top five at 891.
After posting team rounds of 315 and 303 on Sunday, Delaware closed with a 305 on Monday to finish with a three-round total of 923.
Blue Hen senior captain Ben Conroy led the Blue Hens by finishing in a tie for 22nd place in the individual standings with an eight over par 75-72-75-222, after he fired a three over par 72 on Monday on the par 72, 7,105-yard Kaluhyat Course.
Delaware freshman Braden Shattuck (at right) had the best round of the day by a Blue Hen, as he carded a two over par 74 during his final round to improve 10 spots and finish in a tie for 35th place with a 12 over par 75-79-74-228. Sophomore Niño Rosal also improved in the standings, as he moved up five spots into a tie for 48th place after carding a four over par 76 Monday to finish at 84-73-76-233, 17 over par.
UD junior Corey Wagner fired an eight over par 80 on Monday to finish in 59th place with a 26 over par 81-79-80-240, while sophomore Fraser Graham shot a 16 over par 88 and ended up 72nd with a 92-87-88-267.
Jace Long of Missouri dominated the field, carding a 15 under par 66-66-69-201 to earn medalist honors by 10 strokes.
The Blue Hens are back in action this Saturday and Sunday when they compete in the Navy Fall Classic, a tournament in which they have claimed the team title in each of the last two years.
