Delaware Varsity Eights Crew Places Sixth in Semifinals, Posts 17th Place Finish at Final Day of Dad Vail Regatta

The Varsity Eights team had advanced to the semifinals after placing fourth in its heat followed by a third place showing in the second round Friday afternoon. Delaware did not advance to the finals as only the top four teams in each of the three semifinal races Saturday advanced.
With the sixth place finish in the semifinals, Delaware posted an overall 17th place finish in the event.
The Varsity Eights team consisted of coxswain Hayley Diverio, Holly Dodge, Sarah Slotoroff, Jennifer Kohler, Catherine Manner, Bethany Porter, Calla Cissel, Bethany Callaway, and Alexandra Smart.
Delaware rowed to a time of 7:20.101 to finish behind winner Bucknell (6:53.275), Massachusetts, Cal-Sacramento, George Mason, and Pittsburgh.
The Blue Hens will close out the season next Sunday, May 19, when Delaware competes at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at George Mason. The race will be held on the Occoquan River in Fairfax Station, Va.
