Jonjic? and Shuren Advance to Navy Flight A Doubles Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Junior Danea Jonjic' (Split, Croatia/Croatia Natural Sciences and Technical) and freshman Arielle Shuren (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern) paired to go 3-0 in doubles play Saturday as the University of Delaware women's tennis team continued action at the Fifth Annual Navy Blue & Gold Invitational.
Jonjic' and Shuren opened the day in Flight A doubles with an 8-4 victory over Seton Hall's Julian Keenan and Isabell Klingert before defeating Malin Allgurin and Paloma Alatoree from Longwood, 8-2. The duo wrapped up play by cruising to an 8-1 win versus Georgetown's Liselot Koenen and Taylor Perz to advance to Sunday's championship match against LIU Brooklyn's Marine Dans and Sanne Louwers.
In Flight B1 doubles, junior Nataliya Naumova (Moscow, Russia/Moscow 98 School No. 1953) and freshman Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) collected an 8-4 win over Howard's Audra Bell and Jessica Josiah. The pair then fell in a close one to Towson's Barbora Vasilkova and Cailey Easdale, 8-6.
HEN SCRATCHINGS
· Sophomore Denny LaMachia and senior Kim Milla snapped a four-match winning streak with a loss to Towson in Flight A doubles.
· Danea Jonjic' improves her career doubles record to 21-16 while Arielle Shuren is 5-1 in her rookie campaign.
· The Blue Hens are 23-6 in doubles play this fall.
