“Our goal, as a program, is to return Delaware women's lacrosse to national prominence,” remarked Linville, who is in her fifth season as the head coach at her alma mater. “We want to create a winning tradition that attracts talent and brings a sense of pride to our players, alumni and the University as a whole. We believe that to be the best, you have to play and beat the best and with that we are excited to take on five NCAA Tournament teams and three nationally ranked opponents. We know that there are two roads to the tournament – one through our conference championship and one through our non-conference wins. The team is excited to compete for an opportunity to play for the CAA title inside Delaware Stadium.”
The Blue Hens open 2015 against NCAA Tournament competitor Georgetown, which was ranked No. 17 in the final IWLCA poll of 2014, with a home Valentine's Day contest at 1 p.m.
The following Wednesday, UD makes its first road trip of the season by traveling to Lafayette for a 5 p.m. match on Feb. 18 before returning home for a Feb. 21 contest against Penn at Delaware Stadium. The Quakers finished 2014 with a No. 10 ranking and fell in the NCAA Tournament to eventual champion Maryland.
The Blue Hens play the next three games on the road with games at La Salle (Feb. 25), at Monmouth (March 4) and at Villanova (March 11).
Delaware then hosts Temple on March 14 before kicking off CAA action on March 18 against reigning three-time league Champion Towson. The Blue Hens wrap up the home stand with a noon contest versus George Washington.
UD concludes March with away games at first-time opponent Canisius (March 25) and at No. 16 Princeton (March 28), both NCAA Tournament participants.
CAA play continues on April 5 as the Blue Hens welcome first-time opponent Elon to the league and to Delaware Stadium.
The following Friday, April 10, Delaware hosts Hofstra in the final regular season home game of the year before closing out the 2015 slate at Drexel (April 12), William & Mary (April 17) and James Madison (April 19).
For the first time in school history, the Blue Hens welcome the CAA and the conference's top four squads to Delaware Stadium for the league championships with the semifinals taking place on May 1 and the championship final at 1 p.m. on May 3.
