Women’s Lacrosse Clinches Postseason Berth with 14-10 Win Over Coastal Carolina

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware used an 8-0 run over the second and third quarters to pull away and defeat Coastal Carolina 14-10 on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Conference game at Delaware Stadium. With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens clinched a berth in the 2026 ASUN Championship later this month.
Delaware improved its winning streak to nine-straight games and is now 10-4 on the season, and 6-0 in ASUN play. The Chanticleers fall to 9-6 on the season and 2-4 in conference action.

HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Ella Rishko led the Blue Hens with four points on three goals and an assist.
- Morgan Gore and Jaclyn Marszal each also had hat tricks. Gore's third goal gave her 100-career points.
- Riley Sturtevant and a goal and two assists for three points. She also had a career-high four caused turnovers and tied a personal best with three ground balls.
- Maggie Porter scored twice and Sophia Muscolino had a multi-point game with a goal and an assist.
- Steph Marszal made six saves in goal.
- Delaware held a 19-7 advantage in draw controls, led by eight from Molly Baumgratz. E. Rishko added six and Mary Matey tied a career high with five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Muscolino got the scoring started early in the first quarter, and woman-up goals by E. Rishko and Gore gave the Blue Hens a 3-0 lead after the first quarter.
- Delaware's defense held Coastal without a shot attempt for the first 14 minutes, and S. Marszal made two free-position saves in the opening frame.
- Gore scored in the first minute of the second quarter to push UD's lead to 4-0.
- The Chanticleers cut the lead to 4-2, but the Hens did not allow a goal for the next 24 minutes of game action as they went on an 8-0 run in the span.
- Porter and Gore scored late in the second quarter to give Delaware a 6-2 advantage at halftime.
- Sturtevant and J. Marszal scored 18 seconds apart early in the third quarter to force a Coastal timeout, but J. Marszal found the back of the net again to make it a 9-2 game just 2:10 into the third frame.
- Another J. Marszal score and tallies by Porter and Lulu Rishko jumped the lead to 12-2 after three quarters.
- Coastal made a run in the fourth quarter, but two more goals from E. Rishko helped seal the 14-10 win.
GAME NOTES
- Delaware improved its winning streak to nine-consecutive games, the program's longest streak since winning 10-straight games between the 1999-2000 seasons
- The Blue Hens have scored at least 13 goals in nine-straight games, the longest streak in program history.
- Delaware reached the 10-win mark for the third-straight season, marking the first time the program has had three-consecutive 10-win seasons since 2014-16.
