Delaware Men's Golfers Wrap Up Fall Campaign With 10th Place Finish at ODU/Outer Banks Invitational

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team concluded its 2014 fall campaign on Tuesday as the Blue Hens finished in 10th place at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Invitational.
Delaware posted a 305 team score during Tuesday's final round, finishing 10th out of 16 squads with a three-round total of 890. James Madison captured the team title with an 858 score, while Hartford was second at 862 and Maryland placed third at 869.
Blue Hen junior Kyle Martin carded a nine over par 80 during his final round on the par 71, 6,525-yard Kilmarlic Golf Course to finish in a tie for 27th place in the individual standings with an eight over par 72-69-80-221. Freshman Kieran Purcell posted the lowest round of the day by a UD golfer, firing a two over par 73 to finish tied for 32nd place at 75-74-73-222, nine over par.
Freshman Jack Gianniny recorded a three over par 74 on Tuesday, ending in a tie for 36th place with a 10 over par 75-74-74-223. Fellow rookie Erik Dulik carded a 79 during his final round, tying for 47th place with a 13 over par 76-71-79-226. Classmate Blaine Lafferty, who also fired a 79 on Tuesday, finished with an 18 over par 75-77-79-231 to tie for 60th place.
Gaston Bertinotti of Campbell took home medalist honors by carding an eight under par 70-67-68-205 to post a commanding six-shot victory.
The tournament wraps up the 2014 fall schedule for the Blue Hens, who finished in second place during three of their five tournaments. Delaware returns to action on Jan. 26-27 when the Blue Hens compete in the University of Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
