Jack Gianniny Leads University of Delaware Men's Golfers To Second Place Finish at Binghamton Fall Invitational

APALACHIN, N.Y. -- Blue Hen freshman Jack Gianniny tied for second place in the individual standings while the University of Delaware men's golf squad placed second in the team standings this Sunday and Monday at the Binghamton Fall Invitational.
Delaware followed up Sunday's outstanding 279 score by firing a 300 on Monday, finishing second out of 16 teams with a two-round total of 579. The host Bearcats captured the team title with a 576 score, while Robert Morris was third at 584. The Blue Hens have now finished in second place during three of their four tournaments this fall.
Gianniny carded a two under par 70 during his second round on the par 72, 7,104-yard Links at Hiawatha Landing course, tying for second place with a two under par 72-70-142. Kyle Wambold of Binghamton earned medalist honors at the tournament by finishing at three under par, while Gianniny was one of three golfers who finished one shot back.
UD junior Kyle Martin recorded a four over par 76 on Monday, as he finished tied for sixth place with an even par 68-76-144. Freshman Kieran Purcell tied for 14th place with a two over par 68-78-146, while fellow rookie Blaine Lafferty tied for 18th place after carding a four over par 71-77-148 at the invitational.
Sophomore Marc Oliveri, playing as an individual, fired a 10 over par 76-78-154 to tie for 46th place, while freshman Erik Dulik tied for 58th place after his 12 over par score of 79-77-156.
The Blue Hens conclude their 2014 fall campaign on Oct. 19-21 when they compete in the Old Dominion/Kilmarlic Invitational in Powells Point, N.C.
