Blue Hens Men's Tennis Drops 7-0 Contest at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The United States Naval Academy proved to be too much for the University of Delaware men's tennis team as the Midshipmen cruised by the Blue Hens, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
The loss marked the fourth straight for Delaware, which falls to 2-4 on the season while Navy improved to 6-4 overall.
Adam LawtonBeneck and Lawton both forced their opponents into three-set tiebreakers in singles action, but were unable to pick up wins. Beneck fell, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, to Calvin Mark in No. 1 singles while
Lawton lost a close one to Austin Jones, 4-6, 6-4, 11-9.
Sophomore Tim Puterio (Kingston, R.I.) posted the closest match of the afternoon in a heartbreaking 6-7 (9-7), 6-1, 13-11 defeat to Alex Gaines.
· Beneck and Lawton also snapped a five-match doubles winning streak.
· Delaware is 59-75 in singles action this season.
· The Blue Hens are 34-32 in doubles play this year.
