Kiawah Spring Classic at College of Charleston

Blue Hen Women's Golfers Finish in 14th Place at Season-Opening Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The University of Delaware women's golf team carded a 308 score on Tuesday to finish in 14th place out of 36 teams as the Blue Hens opened their 2014 spring season at the Kiawah Island Classic.
Delaware, which posted a 301 score on Sunday and a 317 on Monday, finished with a three-day total of 926 at the invitational, the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country. Kent State captured the team title with an 892 score while Penn State finished second at 906, High Point was third at 907, and Chattanooga placed fourth at 908.
Blue Hen junior Amanda Terzian carded a three over par 75 during her final round on the par 72, 6,001-yard Cougar Point Course, finishing in a tie for 22nd place in the individual standings with an 11 over par score of 72-80-75-227. Terzian posted her lone birdie on the seventh hole on Tuesday, while also making 13 pars.
Andi SlaneFreshman Vitoria Teixeira recorded a five over par 77 during her final round of the tournament, tying for 70th place at 80-79-77-236, 20 over par. Teixeira posted her lone birdie on the eighth hole on Tuesday, while also adding 12 pars on the day.
Sophomore Nathalie Filler concluded the tournament with a 10 over par 82 to also tie for 70th place with a 20 over par score of 77-77-82-236. Freshman Grace Chua carded an 11 over par 83 on Tuesday which included a birdie on 11, as she finished in a tie for 90th place with a 23 over par 75-81-83-239.
Katia Joo of Boston College and Wad Phaewchimplee of Kent State shared medalist honors as both players finished at four over par.
Patty PostDelaware will return to action on Mar. 14-16 when the Blue Hens compete in the James Madison/Eagle Landing Invitational at Eagle Landing Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla.
