UD Women's Lacrosse Earns First Trip to CAA Tournament Since 2009 With 14-8 Victory over William & Mary

NEWARK, Del. – A balanced scoring attack led the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team to its first berth into the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament since the 2009 campaign Sunday afternoon as the Blue Hens defeated William & Mary, 14-8, at Delaware Stadium.

rnament as four teams have yet to complete their conference slate.
A near-record crowd of 595 witnessed Sunday's game, which featured hat tricks from three Delaware players.
Senior Chelsea Fay (West Chester, Pa.) tied a Delaware Stadium record with a career-best seven points on three goals and a career-high and stadium record four assists.
Caitlin McCartney (below right; Doylestown, Pa.) posted three goals and one assist.Junior Shannon Burns (Springfield, Pa.) controlled four of Delaware's 12 draws.
Defensively, sophomore Erin Wein (Middletown, Md.) and senior goalkeeper Tori Zorovich (Massapequa, N.Y.) collected three groundballs apiece while Wein caused a game-best three turnovers.
Zorovich earned the win for the Blue Hens after tallying five saves while allowing eight goals.
Taelor Salmon led W&M with four points off of three goals and one assist. Colleen Nofi was credited with the loss after giving up 13 goals with six saves.
“It took a team effort today. Our ball movement and willingness to share opportunities to score benefitted us in the end. They [William & Mary] made us earn our win and battled until that last whistle. Getting to the [CAA] Tournament isn't easy, it's really hard work and this team has done that.”

at today and pulled out a great win. Our attack unit really balances the field so everybody gets touches. Everyone was working well together today, so that really worked to our benefit.”
