University of Delaware Men's Golf Incoming Freshman Blaine Lafferty Wins Harry Hammond Award

NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware men's golf incoming freshman Blaine Lafferty won the 2014 Harry Hammond Award and finished second in the Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP) Junior Player of the Year standings during his impressive summer.
Lafferty, a native of Marlton, N.J., captured the Harry Hammond Award which is presented annually to the player with the lowest aggregate score in the Junior Boys' Championship qualifying round, the Jock MacKenzie round and the two rounds of the Christman Cup.
Lafferty posted scores of 72, 68, 73 and 75 to finish with a four-round score of 288, finishing four strokes ahead of the competition. Lafferty, who was a semifinalist in the Junior Boys' Championship and runner-up in the Christman Cup, carded a 75 during the final round to secure his first Harry Hammond Award.
Lafferty finished second out of 46 golfers in the GAP Junior Player of the Year results, accumulating 120 points in the Christman Cup, 105 for the Harry Hammond Award and 90 in the Junior Boys' Championship for a 315 total.
