Hillman, Swann Lead the Way as Blue Hen Volleyball Closes Out Delaware Invitational With 3-0 Victory Over George Mason

NEWARK, Del. -- UD junior outside hitter Katie Hillman posted 12 kills while sophomore middle blocker Alexa Swann added eight as the Blue Hen volleyball team closed out play at the 38th Annual University of Delaware Invitational with a three-set victory over George Mason Saturday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The Blue Hens, who won two of three matches at the tournament while improving to 7-4 on the year, claimed the win by set scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-17.
Hillman (at left) led Delaware with 12 kills on the afternoon, while Swann did not commit an attack error as she hit .571 for the match. Autumn Jenkins added seven kills while Jill Meyers contributed six for the Blue Hens, who hit a season-best .410 during the victory.
Erin Layne (below) handed out 23 assists and Julia Anderson chipped in 13 for Delaware, while Taylor Hollingsworth led all players with 13 digs.
Morghan Martin had 12 kills for the Patriots, who dropped to 2-8 on the season.
Meyers, who slammed 27 kills on the weekend, and Hollingsworth, who made 71 digs during the invitational, represented Delaware on the All-Tournament Team.
Bonnie KennyPrinceton, which captured the team title after winning all three matches during the tournament, took the first contest of the day with a 3-1 triumph over Manhattan.

• Katie Hillman reached double figure kills for the third straight match, and for the sixth time this season
• Hillman and Chandler Bryant each had a team-high four blocks for Delaware
• Taylor Hollingsworth has earned All-Tournament honors in each of the Blue Hens' home tournaments
• UD defeated former CAA member George Mason for the 14th time in the last 15 meetings
