Undefeated Delaware Men's Soccer Moves Up to No. 11 in NSCAA Top 25 Poll

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team moved up 10 spots from No. 21 to No. 11 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire poll announced Tuesday.
The Blue Hens, who are 6-0 and tied for the best start in program history, earned 263 points in the latest poll. UD also moved up to No. 11 in this week's Top Drawer national poll and come in at No. 16 in the College Soccer News rankings.
Last week, the Blue Hens cracked the Top 25 for the first time in program history and backed up that ranking with victories over Seton Hall and St. Peter's.
Ian Hennessy“That said, I also feel it is really important to acknowledge this group and for me to praise them, because the national recognition is symbolic of what can happen if you come into preseason in shape and are mentally ready to buy into our culture," continued Hennessy. "This is also a team with some very challenging majors and whose team GPA is over a 3.0.”
Delaware will next be in action this weekend as the Blue Hens head west to take on a pair of ranked Pac 12 opponents in California and Stanford. The Golden Bears are ranked No. 15 in this week's poll while the Cardinal come in at No. 24.
Since 1999, the Blue Hens are 4-10-1 against ranked teams and this weekend will mark the first time in program history that UD will face ranked opponents in back-to-back games.
In the NSCAA poll, North Carolina is ranked No. 1 followed by UCLA, Creighton, New Mexico, Notre Dame, UC-Irvine, Virginia, Washington, Louisville, Penn State, Delaware, American, Georgetown, Indiana, California, Michigan State, Marquette, George Mason, Furman, Saint Louis, Denver, Navy, Syracuse, Stanford, and UNC-Charlotte.
In the Top Drawer poll, Creighton comes in at No. 1 followed by Notre Dame, Washington, UCLA, New Mexico, North Carolina, Virginia, UC-Irvine, Georgetown, Louisville, Delaware, George Mason, Marquette, Syracuse, California, Michigan State, Stanford, Penn State, Indiana, Coastal Carolina, UMBC, Wake Forest, UNLV, American, and Campbell.
In the College Soccer News poll, North Carolina is ranked No. 1 followed by UCLA, Washington, Notre Dame, Virginia, New Mexico, UC-Irvine, Penn State, Creighton, Louisville, California, Georgetown, Michigan State, Marquette, Stanford, Delaware, Coastal Carolina, Indiana, George Mason, UNC-Charlotte, Maryland, American, Syracuse, Wake Forest, San Diego State, UC-Santa Barbara, UMBC, Furman, Navy, and Oregon State.
