Blue Hen Men's Golf Team Finishes in Ninth Place at George Mason Patriot Intercollegiate

LORTON, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team fired a 295 score on Monday as the Blue Hens finished in ninth place at the Patriot Intercollegiate hosted by George Mason.
The Blue Hens, who posted team scores of 292 and 298 on Sunday, finished with a three-round score of 885 at the tournament. Missouri captured the 17-team title with an 851 score, while Marshall placed second at 854 and James Madison was third at 861.
UD freshman Jack Gianniny carded a three over par 74 on Monday on the par 71, 7,010-yard Laurel Hill Golf Club course, finishing in a tie for 20th place in the individual standings with a four over par 70-73-74-217. Fellow rookie Kieran Purcell, who fired a 75 on Monday, finished tied for 40th place at 74-74-75-223, 10 over par. Classmate Blaine Lafferty, playing as an individual, also tied for 40th place after carding a two over par 73 during his final round to finish at 72-78-73-223.
Freshman Erik Dulik fired a 73 during the final round, finishing in a tie for 45th place with an 11 over par 75-76-73-224. Senior Niño Rosal, who carded a 77 on Monday, finished with a 12 over par 73-75-77-225 to tie for 50th place at the tournament.
Delaware junior Kyle Martin tied Lafferty and Dulik for the low round of the day by a Blue Hen with his 73, tying for 72nd place with a 17 over par score of 77-80-73-230.
Ryan Zech of Missouri earned medalist honors with a four under par 71-71-67-209, while Christopher Crawford of Drexel and Clark Robinson of Marshall each finished one shot back.
Delaware returns to action next Sunday and Monday when the Blue Hens compete in the Binghamton Fall Invitational at the Links of Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y.
