UD Freshman Kory Holden Earns CAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman point guard Kory Holden has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Holden (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) averaged 18.0 points and 7.0 assists during the Blue Hens two games last week, finishing 13 of 22 (59.1%) from the floor and 10 of 12 from the free throw line.
Holden led Delaware with 24 points during Wednesday's 84-80 comeback win over William & Mary, handing out a season-high nine assists while committing just one turnover. He finished 9 of 13 from the field, and hit two free throws with three seconds remaining to seal the victory.
Holden contributed 12 points and a game-best five assists during Saturday's loss at Elon, connecting on 4 of 9 shots from the floor and all four of his foul shots.
Holden, who earned his third CAA Rookie of the Week honor, currently ranks second in the CAA with 4.5 assists per game, seventh with 34.2 minutes played per game, and ninth with a 1.4 assist/turnover ratio and 13.4 points per game.
Holden and the Blue Hens return to action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game against James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.
