Four Blue Hens Named to Preseason All-CAA Women's Lacrosse Squad

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team had four players recognized while the Blue Hens were selected to finish tied for third in the Colonial Athletic Association in the league's preseason voting, as decided upon by the conference's head coaches.
Caitlin McCartney (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) joined juniors Lizzie Duffey (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape), Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada/Berkshire) and Erin Wein (Middletown, Md./Middletown) on the Preseason All-CAA Team.McCartney, a three-time IWLCA All-Region honoree, had 40 draw controls in 2014 and enters the season in second place all-time at Delaware in the category. She also added 39 goals and nine assists last season.
Duffey earned All-CAA accolades after finishing 2014 with 1.53 caused turnovers per game, which was good for third in the league. She also had 23 groundballs and 23 caused turnovers.
Lyons earned First Team All-CAA and IWLCA All-Region honors after posting a team-best 58 points with 36 goals and 22 assists in her first season with the Blue Hens after transferring to Delaware.
Wein earned All-CAA honors last season after finishing second in the league and 17th in the NCAA with 1.82 caused turnovers per game. Her total of 31 caused turnovers was good for second in UD single season history.
The three-time defending CAA champion Towson Tigers were picked to finish atop the standings in 2015 by earning five first place votes for a total of 39 points. Last season's championship runner-up, James Madison, collected two first place votes for 37 points to finish in second.
Delaware and Hofstra tied for third with 31 points while Drexel (19), William & Mary (18) and Elon (14) rounded out the rankings.
