BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Blue Hens picked up their third Colonial Athletic Association victory of the season Saturday evening as senior Joe Dipre (Betchworth, England/London Freemen's School) posted three points in Delaware's 3-2 win at Northeastern.
Down 1-0 in the ninth minute, sophomore Ryan Talbot (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) registered the equalizer with his second goal in as many games with an assist from Dipre.
Dipre followed just two minutes later with an unassisted goal to give Delaware (6-6-2, 3-2 CAA) the 2-1 advantage.
The first half scoring continued for the Hens when sophomore Thibault Philippe (Saint Brienc, France/Lycee Notre-dame Guingamp) also collected a goal in back-to-back games off a header from a corner kick from junior Thomas de Villardi (Vincennes, France/Lycee Notre-dame Guingamp).
Northeastern (1-9-2, 1-5 CAA) logged the game's final goal in the 21st minute as the two teams remained scoreless over the final 69 minutes.
Redshirt freshman Todd Morton (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) recorded five saves in the win while Jonathan Thuresson collected three saves for the Huskies.
Ian Hennessy"This was a very important conference win for us in Boston. It gets us closer to the conference playoffs, which in the CAA can be an end in itself. We still have much to do, but I am delighted for the lads."
