Blue Hens Conclude Fall Season With Sixth Place Finish at ODU/Outer Banks Invitational

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team carded a 291 score during Tuesday's final round at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Invitational, concluding its 2015 fall season with a sixth place finish at the tournament.
Delaware, which posted 294 and 288 rounds on Sunday and Monday, respectively, finished sixth out of 18 squads with an 873 total. Campbell claimed the team title with an 841 score, followed by Bowling Green at 854 and Old Dominion at 857.
UD sophomore Blaine Lafferty fired a two over par 73 on the par 71, 6,525-yard Kilmarlic Golf Course on Tuesday, as he tied for 11th place at the tournament with a one over par score of 73-68-73-214. Lafferty posted the lowest three-round score of his career, while the 11th place finish was his lowest of the fall campaign.
Junior Marc Oliveri also recorded a 73 during his final round to end up tied for 16th place with a four over par 71-73-73-217, while sophomore Kieran Purcell fired a 74 on his final round to tie for 35th place with an eight over par 73-74-74-221.
Sophomore Jack Gianniny enjoyed the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen with an even par 71, as he carded an 11 over par 77-76-71-224 to tie for 46th place. Senior Kyle Martin tied for 67th place after he fired a 16 over par 78-73-78-229 during the invitational.
Craig Hornberger of Campbell finished an impressive 12 shots under par to earn medalist honors with a seven-shot victory.
The tournament concludes the fall season for the Blue Hens, who will return to action on Mar. 14-15 at the Cape Fear Intercollegiate at Cape Fear Golf Club in Leland, N.C.
