Blue Hens Tied For 13th Place After First Day of Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's golf squad fired a 297 score on Sunday to end the first day of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate tied for 13th place out of 24 teams.
Tennessee leads the field with a 284 score, while Penn State and Dayton are each tied for second place at 287.
Blue Hen sophomore Blaine Lafferty fired a one over par 71 on the par 70, 6,765-yard River Course, ending the day tied for 14th place in the individual standings. Kieran Purcell carded a four over par 74 to finish the round tied for 42nd place, while Kyle Martin is tied for 56th place following his five over par 75.
Mark Benevento is tied for 82nd place with a seven over par 77, while Joe Visalli recorded a 13 over par 83 to end the day tied for 121st place.
Charles Huntzinger of Penn State leads the field after carding a three under par 67 during his opening round.
The second round of the three-day tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday.
