Blue Hen Sophomore Jack Gianniny Named CAA Men's Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware sophomore Jack Gianniny was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday following his impressive performance at the Binghamton Fall Invitational.
Gianniny (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) won the first tournament of his career at the invitational, firing a four under par 65-75-140 on the par 72, 7,104-yard Links at Hiawatha Landing course to post a one-shot victory. His opening round 65 tied for the second lowest round in UD history, while his 140 total was the lowest two-round score of his career.
Gianniny helped lead Delaware to the Binghamton Fall Invitational team title as well, the Blue Hens' first victory since the fall of 2011. Gianniny, who earned the second CAA award of his career, has appeared in all four tournaments this fall for the Blue Hens and leads the squad with a 72.80 average round.
Delaware returns to action on Oct. 19-20 when the Blue Hens compete in the Elon Phoenix Invitational at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C.
