HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Sophomore Erika Brown (Haledon, N.J./Paterson Kennedy) erupted for a career-best 31 points Sunday afternoon as the University of Delaware women's basketball team defeated Hofstra University, 73-62, at Mack Sports Complex.
Brown posted 17 points in the first half and finished the game shooting 11-for-17 from the floor. The guard also went a career-best 8-for-8 from the charity stripe while adding seven rebounds, three steals and two assists in 38 minutes of play.
Redshirt sophomore Jodi Salyer (Roanoke, Va./Staunton River) dished out a career-high nine assists as the Blue Hens improved to 10-11 on the year and 5-5 in Colonial Athletic Association play.
Senior Joy Caracciolo (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) tallied her fifth career double double with 12 points and 10 assists while sophomore Hannah Jardine (St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada/O'Donel) registered 13 points.
Anjie White guided the Pride (13-8, 6-4 CAA) with 16 points and seven rebounds while Ashunae Durant and Elo Edeferioka posted 12 points apiece.
“It's good to see the kids bounce back when Hofstra made runs. I got on a couple of them and they didn't crumble – they responded. That's a really good sign from this young group. We need to keep building on this win and have confidence in playing together. This was a huge win to get back to 5-5 in the CAA after the hole we dug for ourselves.”
[On Erika Brown]: Erika has done such a better job of reading things and not just plowing into defenders and losing the ball. She's been our best player for the past month and it's great to see her step up and have a big game in front of her family and friends.

“This was a big win for us. To be able to come on the road and get this will build the momentum as we return home. My pull-up has definitely come a long way. I worked on it a lot in the offseason and it's my go-to. Everyone knows I can get to the basket, so my goal this year was to change it up. If I'm hitting pull-ups and the other team adjusts, I can go to the rim.”
