Delaware Welcomes #16 Georgetown Saturday in Season Lid-Lifter

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team opens the 2015 campaign Saturday as the Blue Hens host #16 Georgetown at Delaware Stadium for a 1 p.m. draw.
The Hens kick off the season with added motivation as Delaware aims to clinch the Colonial Athletic Association title on home turf with the league's postseason tournament being held at Delaware Stadium May 1-3.
With eight starters and 20 letterwinners returning from a 2014 squad that went 10-7 overall while earning its first trip to the CAA Tournament since 2009, the Blue Hens are predicted to finish tied for third in the league in 2015 according to a preseason poll by the conference's head coaches.

· Delaware will also have eight freshmen participating in collegiate lacrosse for the first time.
· The Blue Hens feature four seniors and 11 juniors on their roster.
SERIES INFORMATION
· Georgetown leads the all-time series between the two teams, 3-0, since the first meeting in 2012.
· The Hoyas are 1-0 over the Hens at Delaware Stadium.
· In the last contest in Newark, #15 Georgetown defeated Delaware, 16-12, on February 16, 2013.
· Last season, the rv Blue Hens fell to the 10 Hoyas, 19-11, in Washington, D.C. on February 15.
· Ricky Fried (UMBC '88) is in his 11th season at the helm of the Hoyas and has guided Georgetown to a 117-67 mark during his tenure.
ABOUT GEORGETOWN
The #16 Hoyas enter the 2015 slate with three Preseason All-BIG EASST selections and are predicted to finish second in the BIG EAST according to a poll of the league's head coaches. Georgetown completed 2014 with a mark of 11-9 and its second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth after appearing in the BIG EAST Tournament Championship game. Senior Adrianne Devine was tabbed the conference's Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year while she joined classmate Caroline Tarzian as unanimous selections on Preseason All-BIG EAST squad.
