LAST TIME OUT
It was a tightly contested game for the entirety, but No. 14 Penn pulled ahead in the second half and came out with the 9-7 victory over Delaware Saturday. Casey Lyons led the way with two goals and one assist while Shannon Hawley added two scores of her own in addition to two groundballs. Kara Dattellas registered two draw controls, two groundballs and two caused turnovers for the Hens.
SERIES INFORMATION
· The Blue Hens and Explorers are knotted up at 2-2 in the all-time series dating to 2011.
· Last season, Delaware snapped a two-game losing skid as Casey Lyons posted seven points to guide the Hens to an 18-7 victory over La Salle at Delaware Stadium.
· La Salle last defeated UD, 13-12, on March 1 in Philadelphia.
· The Hens and Explorers are 1-1 all-time in Philadelphia.
· A two-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, Candace Taglianetti Bossell (Ohio State '02) is in her seventh season at the helm of the Explorers.
ABOUT LA SALLE
The Explorers enter Wednesday's game after splitting their first two. They defeated UMBC, 10-9, in overtime in the season opener before dropping a 9-7 decision to Temple in the home opener. Allee Ilgenfritz leads La Salle with four goals while Alanna Diffendal guides the squad with five points. Caitlyn Brostrand has posted a team-best three caused turnovers and four groundballs. Gabby Antonelli sports a .550 save percentage and has recorded 22 saves as the team's goalie. She has been tough against free position shots as opponents are just 6-for-16 from the 8-meter arc.
