Bob Shillinglaw "Their faceoff guy (Nardella) is excellent. During the second half, they got more possessions after they won faceoffs, which gave them more opportunities. A lot of shots were coming, but we have to turn and find them. We got some opportunities on the offensive end, but during the second half we weren't quite putting it where we needed to. We have to take the next step forward and get a good week of practice in to be ready for our game on Wednesday (at home vs. Manhattan).”After a torrid first quarter that featured six goals scored by each team, Rutgers gained control by scoring the first three goals of the second stanza and took a 10-8 lead into halftime. The Scarlet Knights scored the first two goals of the second half to go up 12-8 but Connor Frisina and Kormondy scored for UD to cut the lead to 12-10. But Rutgers followed with three straight goals, two by Trasolini, to go up 15-10 and Delaware never threatened again.
HEN SCRATCHINGS:
• Kormondy and Holland combined for six goals and four assists one game after each was held scoreless vs. Binghamton
• Rutgers was playings its first game away from home since mid-February
• Rutgers downed the Hens for the first time since 2005 and snapped a three-game losing streak to Delaware
• Conor Peaks relieved starter Brett Anton in goal late in the third quarter, making his first appearance since the Feb. 9 Bucknell game
• Delaware outshot Rutgers 48-39 with Kormondy accounting for 12 of those shots
• Beau Jones had a goal and an assist and forced three turnovers for Delaware
• The 17 goals by Rutgers was the most allowed by Delaware since an 18-8 loss to Fairfield last Feb. 15.
