Delaware Men's Golfers Open Spring Season Sunday at Cape Fear Intercollegiate

LELAND, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team opens its 2015 spring season on Sunday and Monday when the Blue Hens compete in the Cape Fear Intercollegiate hosted by Appalachian State.
The three-round tournament will take place on the par 72, 6,950-yard course at Cape Fear National Golf Course, featuring two rounds on Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the final round on Monday starting at 8 a.m.
The field features 13 teams including the Blue Hens, Appalachian State, Eastern Illinois, Gardner-Webb, Green Bay, High Point, IUPUI, North Carolina Central, North Dakota, Nyack, Robert Morris, St. Bonaventure, and UNCW.
The Blue Hens will return to action for first time in seven weeks, since Delaware competed in the prestigious Arizona Intercollegiate on Jan. 26-27. UD finished among the top two in three of five tournaments during their 2014 fall campaign.
Freshman Jack Gianniny leads the Blue Hens with a 73.81 average round, while junior Kyle Martin ranks second at 74.00 and freshman Kieran Purcell is third by averaging 74.19 shots per round.
Following this weekend's tournament, Delaware will next compete in the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary next Sunday through Tuesday.
