Delaware Rowing Begins Season with Tri-Meet Saturday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. –The University of Delaware rowing team will begin its 2015 spring season Saturday as the Hens take part in a tri-meet with Lehigh and Temple on the Schuylkill River.

UD was supposed to begin its season Mar. 7, but inclement weather forced its tri-meet with St. Joseph's and La Salle to be canceled.

The Hens will kickoff the meet with the Novice Eight competition against Temple at 9:30 a.m. The Delaware team will consist of coxswain Alison Gibney, Emma Oury, Kerry Stewart, Susie Baumgardner, Courtney Burnham, Kelly Gilmartin, Jacqueline Bucchere, Kate Gantner, and Kyra Taylor.

UD's second race of the day will be the Varsity Eight at 11:30 a.m. vs. Lehigh. The Blue Hens team will be made up of coxswain Hayley Diverio, Hannah Scholes, Corey Holloway, Denise Cirelli, Catherine Manner, Kate Flood, Jennifer Boone, Carly Alexander, and Lily Guttentag.

The Hens will then take on the Mountain Hawks with the second and third Varsity Eight squads. The race is scheduled to begin at 11:48 a.m. and Delaware's second varsity eight team will be comprised of coxswain Molly Gardner, Shannon Taylor, Calla Cissel, Megan Kirby, Samantha Noel, Claire Brown, Emma Spillman, Juliana Fellowes, and Danielle Weader.

UD's third Varsity Eight team is made up of coxswain Sarah Tenenbaum, Kristina Harmon, Danielle Lawler, Kristen Reisor, Savannah Wolfson, Curtira Williams, Taylor Morgan, Lian Cancryn, and Jeannie Kontos

The Blue Hens will wrap up the competition with two teams in the Varsity Four race against Lehigh. The competition will commence at 12:06 p.m. and the first Varsity Four team will consist of coxswain Jamie Noce, Laura Donohue, Olivia Brady, Isabella Lurie, and Kaitlyn Thomesen.

Coxswain Kate Sneddon, Brynn McMahon, Melissa Rodriguez, Annabelle Beattie, Katie Hewton will make up Delaware's second team in the Varsity Four race.
