Blue Hens Return to Water to Compete in Knecht Cup Regatta

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – After taking last weekend off, the University of Delaware rowing team returns to action Saturday to compete in the Knecht Cup Regatta at Mercer Lake.
Kevin Gruber“This year there are 32 crews scheduled to race in the Varsity Eight event alone. For most of our crews, this is the fastest field they will see all spring. We feel we have gotten faster after a hard week of Spring Break training and we are looking forward to testing our speed against some really strong crews this weekend.”
UD's performance at the event last year was highlighted by the Varsity Eights crew advancing to the final of their competition.
The Delaware Varsity Four boats will consist of coxswain Hayley Diverio, Isabella Lurie, Olivia Brady, Kaitlyn Thomesen, and Megan Kirby.
Coxswain Alison Gibney will lead the Blue Hens Novice Eights boat accompanied by Kerry Stewart, Susie Baumgardner, Courtney Burnham, Kelly Gilmartin, Emma Oury, Jacqueline Bucchere, Kate Gantner, and Kyra Taylor.
The Second Varsity Eights crew is be made up of coxswain Jamie Noce, Laura Donohue, Danielle Weader, Shannon Taylor, Calla Cissel, Claire Brown, Emma Spillman, Juliana Fellowes, and Jennifer Boone.
Coxswain Sarah Tenenbaum will lead the Delaware Third Varsity Eight crew alongside Kristina Harmon, Danielle Lawler, Sara Afshar, Danielle Lawler, Curtira Williams, Taylor Morgan, Lian Cancryn, and Jeannie Kontos.
The Novice Fours crew will be comprised of coxswain Alex Aber, Melissa Rodriguez, Brynn McMahon, Katie Hewton, and Annabelle Beattie.
The Blue Hens Varsity Eights crew will be led by coxswain Molly Gardner, Denise Cirelli, Corey Holloway, Kate Flood, Catherine Manner, Carly Alexander, Samantha Noel, Hannah Scholes, and Lily Guttentag.
