Blue Hens in 12th Place Following First Day of Liberty Spring Invitational

AMHERST, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team carded rounds of 303 and 297 on Friday to finish the first day of the Liberty Spring Invitational in 12th place out of 18 squads.
No. 10 Oklahoma leads the field with a two-round total of 562, while 19th-ranked North Carolina sits in second place with a 567 score heading into Saturday's final round.
Blue Hen freshman Jack Gianniny fired a one over par 71-74-145 on the par 72, 7,059-yard Poplar Grove Golf Course, finishing the day tied for 22nd place in the individual standings. Kyle Martin ended Friday's action tied for 53rd place following his seven over par day of 75-76-151.
Kieran Purcell, who carded an 80-72-152, and Blaine Lafferty, who recorded a 77-75-152, are each tied for 57th place at eight over par. Erik Dulik is tied for 81st place after he shot a 15 over par 80-79-159 during Friday's action.
Dawson Armstrong of Lipscomb and William Register of North Carolina are tied for the lead as both players finished the day at seven under par.
The final round of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
