Delaware Men's Golfers Finish 12th at Liberty Spring Invitational

AMHERST, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team fired a 309 round on Saturday to finish in 12th place at the Liberty Spring Invitational.
The Blue Hens, who carded rounds of 303 and 297 on Friday, placed 12th of 18 teams with a 909 three-round total. No. 10 Oklahoma easily took the team title with an 847 score, while 19th-ranked North Carolina was second at 862.
UD freshman Jack Gianniny fired a five over par 77 on the par 72, 7,059-yard Poplar Grove Golf Course on Saturday, finishing in 26th place with a six over par 71-74-77-222. Classmate Kieran Purcell had the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen, as he carded a four over 76 to finish tied for 47th place at 80-72-76-228, 12 over par.
Junior Kyle Martin fired a 79 on Saturday to tie for 58th place in the standings with a 14 over par 75-76-79-230. Freshmen Erik Dulik, who carded an 80-79-77-236 during the tournament, and Blaine Lafferty, who recorded a 77-75-84-236, each finished 20 over par to tie for 71st place.
Six players tied for the individual lead, with Mathieu Fenasse of Liberty earning medalist honors by winning a two-hole playoff.
Delaware closes its 2014-15 regular season on Apr. 24-26 when the Blue Hens compete in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
