Delaware Men, Kyle Martin Tied for Fourth After Second Day of CAA Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men's golf squad is tied for fourth place in the team standings while junior Kyle Martin is tied for fourth individually following Saturday's round at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
The Blue Hens carded a 296 team score during the second round of the tournament, a 10-shot improvement from Friday, and are tied for fourth place along with William & Mary and Elon with a 602 total. Defending champion College of Charleston leads the nine-team field at 586, while James Madison is second at 598 and UNCW sits in third with a 599 score.
Martin posted his second consecutive one over par round of 73 on the par 72, 6,784-yard Founders Club course at St. James Plantation, finishing the day tied for fourth place with a two over par 73-73-146. He was two over par for the day through the front nine, but birdied 11 and 18 during a one under par back nine.
Martin is four shots behind tournament leader John Jonas of Charleston, who has carded a two under par 70-72-142 through the first two rounds. Thomas Eldridge of UNCW is one shot back while Josh Lorenzetti of Charleston is three shots off the pace, followed by Martin and Elon's Jonathan Dilanni at two over par.
Blue Hen freshman Blaine Lafferty recorded a three over par 75 during his second round, ending the day in a tie for sixth place at 72-75-147, three over par. Lafferty birdied the 11th hole and added 14 pars during his round on Saturday.
Classmate Jack Gianniny tied for the tournament's low round of the day, as he carded a three under par 69 to move up into a tie for 27th place with an 11 over par 86-69-155. Gianniny birdied 1 and 6 while adding an eagle on 4 as he moved to three under through six holes, before recording pars on the final 12 holes to post his lowest round of the season.
Kieran Purcell carded a 79 on Saturday, and is tied for 35th place with a 15 over par score of 80-79-159. Fellow rookie Erik Dulik, who also fired a 79 during the second round of the tournament, is tied for 39th place at 81-79-160, 16 over par.
The final round of the three-round tournament will begin with split tees at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
