Kyle Martin Ties For Fifth, Blue Hens Finish Sixth at CAA Men's Golf Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. -- Blue Hen junior Kyle Martin tied for fifth place while the University of Delaware men's golf squad placed sixth in the team standings as UD concluded its 2014-15 season this weekend at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
Delaware posted its second consecutive 296 score during Sunday's final round, finishing in sixth place for the second straight year with an 898 total. College of Charleston defended its crown with an 873 score to capture the team title, while William & Mary and James Madison tied for second with 893 scores.
Martin carded a two over par 74 on Sunday on the par 72, 6,784-yard Founders Club course at St. James Plantation, tying for fifth place with a four over par score of 73-73-74-220 and earning CAA All-Tournament Team honor. Martin's finish was the highest by a Blue Hen at the conference tournament since Greg Matthias was the 2012 individual champion at Wilmington Country Club.
Freshman Jack Gianniny had the lowest round of the day by a UD golfer with a one under par 71, moving up into a tie for 18th place with a 10 over par 86-69-71-226.
Blaine Lafferty fired a 13 over par 72-75-82-229 to tie for 25th place at the tournament, while Kieran Purcell tied for 30th place with a 16 over par score of 80-79-73-232. Erik Dulik posted a 22 over par 81-79-78-238 during the weekend to end up in a tie for 43 place.
John Jonas of Charleston was the tournament champion as he posted a three-shot victory with a one under par score of 70-72-73-215.
The tournament wrapped up the 2014-15 season for Delaware, which recorded four second place team finishes on the year.
