Trio Repeats as IWLCA All-Mid Atlantic Region Performers

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – For the second straight season, the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team has three players recognized by the IWLCA as All-Region honorees.
Caitlin McCartneyJuniors Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada/Berkshire) and Erin Wein (Middletown, Md./Middletown) earned Second Team accolades for the second time during their tenure.
Earlier this month, the trio received All-CAA First Team honors.
Kateri LinvilleDuring her senior campaign, McCartney guided the Hens with a school single-season record 66 draw controls in addition to 42 points on 36 goals and six assists. She ranked second in the Colonial Athletic Association with 4.06 draw controls (23rd NCAA) and 1.83 caused turnovers (13th NCAA) per contest. The midfielder concluded her Delaware career first all-time with 186 draw controls and second with 86 caused turnovers.
Lyons quarterbacked the UD offense this past season with 56 points on 40 goals and 16 assists. The attacker finished fifth in the league with 2.22 goals, seventh with 3.11 points and 10th with 0.89 assists per game.
A defensive stalwart, Wein is ninth nationally with a school single-season record 38 caused turnovers at a clip of 2.11 per game. Additionally, the defender posted a team-best 37 groundballs for a unit that ranks fourth in the nation in scoring defense.
In total, the IWLCA honored 128 Division I student-athletes as All-Regional selections. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Monday, May 18. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday, June 6.
Delaware completed the 2015 slate with an 11-7 record while reaching the CAA Tournament for the second consecutive year. The third-seeded Blue Hens fell to eventual league champion James Madison, 10-7, in the semifinals.
