NEWARK, Del. -- Nathaniel “Niño” Rosal, a four-year member of the Blue Hen men's golf team who concluded his athletics career last month, has been appointed as the Recent Graduate member of the University of Delaware Board of Trustees.
Rosal's appointment was announced at the May board meeting. He will serve a two-year term as the
recent graduate trustee and will have full privileges as a voting member.
“Our entire Delaware Athletics Team is thrilled for Niño and his selection as the Recent Graduate member of our University's Board of Trustees,” said UD Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Eric Ziady. “His selection is quite an honor and is a testament to Niño both as an incredible young man as well as one who has made the most of his collegiate experience as a Blue Hen student-athlete; in the classroom, on the golf course, and throughout the UD community.“
Rosal (pronounced “neen-yo” “row-saul”), who will earn his degree from Delaware later this month, becomes one of several UD student-athlete alums to serve on the prestigious board. Current board member Kenneth C. Whitney also played golf at Delaware in 1977-79.
“What an outstanding opportunity for Niño to be selected as the Recent Graduate member of the Board of Trustees here at the University of Delaware,” said UD Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Development Christine Motta. “He has been an exceptional representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) governing body for the last few years, and he has emerged as a forward-thinking, thoughtful, and vocal leader among the student athlete community. I am sure his insights, perspective, and discernment will contribute greatly to the Board.”
